Black Metal is only for alt-rights? Sadly, this prejudice is easy to advance. In the first place, co-founders of the Scandinavian scene, such as Varg Vikernes (Burzum, ex-Mayhem) and militant concept bands like Marduk, did not waste many chances to spread brown coloured ideas in the past. But the problem of the National Socialist influence is not a thing of yesterdays and no longer a matter of individual known figureheads, which fuel a negative image. For it is an internationally flourishing underground scene of the NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal), as well as the confessions of criminal violent perpetrators, who obviously identify with the genre, which make the media and leftist organizations cry out loud. Hardliners have given up playing with animal carcasses in order to be close to the devil and now prefer to wallow in racist ideologies, which can be well transported anyway on aggressive music and traditional martial outfits. Inverted crosses are not cool enough anymore. They have to be iron. The machinations of the black metal „interested“ and responsible for several murders US neo-Nazi grouping Atomwaffen Division are only a single outgrowth of the worrying developments of recent years, which must be named in a global context. For a lot of black metal fans the limit of sustainable political chaos has been crossed. It´s even time to shoot back for a french band called Neckbeard Deathcamp – with musical resistance.

As a chain of command Kriegmeister Hatestorm (Vocals, Piano, Noise, Production), Supercommando Uberweinersnitchel (Guitar, Bass) and Hailz Komradez (Drums) started a rebellion to ridicule the Nazi connection to the Black Metal scene around 2018. And ever since, they slip into the roles of right-wing extremist characters and take the alleged left-wing enemy with a big wink to task in their texts. Already on the cover of their debut album White Nationalism is for Basement Dwelling Losers (July 2018), the satirical motif for the actual target audience was revealed. This adorned an eagle coat of arms with a phallus head and Pepe-the-Frog meme in a wreath, an industrial setting in the background, barbed wire and the band name in Old German script. Songs like „Incel Warfare“ („This nation has a problem With greasy boys in cargo shorts Who feel owed a woman Under threat of murder“) and „XXXL Obersturmfuhrer Leather Duster“ („Gewehr fire lights the sky Angry reacts fall like bombs Call of Duty basic training World of Warcraft cut my teeth“) underscored that on the whole the record is nothing more than an ingenious rhetorical ironic artillery fire. Soundwise WNifBDL comes from the days when black metal records were still produced, as one would guess, on old Nokia phones. Unidentifiable rattle, in between some reasonably good riffs and bad echo effects included.
In this sense, the trash parody is not for epicures. However, White Nationalism is for Basement Dwelling Losers is for anyone who gets the joke and does not want to be seen in a pot with right-wing extremist music fans, but expects an uncompromising noise-wall of blasts that guarantees a lot of fun and stuff for boisterous headbanging. On May 24, 2019, a new album will be released with the title So Much For The Tolerant Left that will surely kick the bedroom fascism of the scene under the table neatly to the knee again. Yet, one should always keep in mind with all the current sentiment that black metal is fundamentally not subject to fascist guidelines and not every band, which is more conservative, should and must be labeled as radical and Nazi garbage. An example of this are the unjustified concert refusals against the Polish band Mgla, in which allegations spoke louder than facts. Stay trve!
